Reasons A Slow Cooker Makes Your Life Simpler

November 6, 2018 Amy Leave a Comment

Having dinner ready in 30 minutes are less is a number one reason a slow cooker makes your life simpler.

Getting a home cooked meal on the table during the week is a major struggle for most families. On busy nights it is easy just to go through the drive thru and pick something up. But that is not always a healthy or the least expensive option. A slow cooker can help you solve this week night dilemma.

Reasons A Slow Cooker Makes Your Life Simpler

Reasons You Need a Slow Cooker

(affiliate links have been used throughout this post. I may make a few pennies from your purchase)

Set It and Forget It

This is one of my favorite uses for a slow cooker. Simply set all the ingredients in the slow cooker and turn it on. Let it cook for 4-8 hours depending on what you are making. Dinner is ready whenever you are. Did you know you could cook a whole chicken even if it is frozen. See this chicken in a pot for frozen chicken to dinner.

Dinner Made Easy

Some dinners are simply just opening a few cans and dumping them in and boom dinner is done. Like this tasty taco soup recipe for a speedy weeknight dinner you can make in the morning and have ready by dinner time. Just set the slow cooker on low.

Time Saver

Being able to start dinner in the morning and have it done by the evening saves so much time. Making Homemade Meatballs in the slow cooker and having them ready at dinner time is golden. We love meatballs and this is such a great treat to have with pasta. Or make a batch and have them ready to go in the freezer for a quick freezer meal.

Easy Healthy Cooking

Trying to eat healthier, then let your slow cooker do all the work for you. By slicing up a few veggies and adding meat you can have a healthy dinner in no time. After cooking a whole chicken you can even make an easy chicken stock with the leftover bones and freeze to have for soups and stews.

Save Money

You can purchase larger cuts of meat like a roast or whole chicken. Buying in bulk cuts of meats can save you tons of money buying meats cheaper. See how you can use a roast to make pulled pork sliders. Freeze the leftovers to have a ready made meal and reduce going out to eat to help save money.

Leftovers

Leftovers are almost a guarantee with a slow cooker. By purchasing a large cut of meat you can cook once and serve dinner all week or create freezer meals to heat up later. Here are 10 dinner ideas with leftovers your family will love.

Home Cooked Meal

Providing a home cooked meal is easy when you let the slow cooker to do all the work. You know the ingredients you are supplying and putting in your meal so you can feel good about the food your family is eating. Try this homemade meatloaf for an easy home cooked meal. I don’t even like meatloaf and I love this recipe.

Easy to Clean

Are you a huge fan on one pot cooking like I am? Using just one pot to make an entire meals means lots less dishes to clean.  I know I am. Using a slow cooker usually means only one pot to clean once dinner is done.

Easy to Operate

No real cooking skills are needed. You don’t really need to know how to cook in order to use a slow cooker. There are plenty of recipes you can find to just dump it and forget it. I have an entire Slow Cooker Pinterest Board you can follow to get some easy and tasty recipes. This makes a slow cooker perfect for a collage student, new home owner, or newlyweds.

Great for Busy families

Sometimes timing dinner for when every gets home takes miraculous intervention. With busy schedules and everyone going a different directions. It is nearly impossible to have dinner on the table at a time that works for everyone. Slow cookers are lifesavers for this very reason. You can have dinner ready in the slow cooker and whenever someone gets home dinner is hot and ready to eat.

Great for Entertaining

The three in one slow cooker is the best investment if you entertain often. You can have three warm dishes ready to go. Or you can make a large batch of mulled wine or hot dogs and everyone can serve themselves for a hot dinner. No need to worry or fuss over making sure everyone has something warm to eat or drink.

Slow Cooker Recommendations

This is the slow cooker I recommend using for creating tasty meals. When looking for a slow cooker I would recommend  purchasing the largest one for roasts and whole chickens.
