Best of 2014 From Pounds4Pennies

December 31, 2014 Amy Leave a Comment

Wow what an exciting year this has been. I have to say this year has been so much better than last year. Last year really sucked. This year has been about making memories with my family and taking small amounts of time and making them great. I think my kids will remember this year as a year of fun and family. Next year we are planning trips with aunts, uncles and cousins. This has always been a dream of mine, to vacation with family.

Now I am going to share with you the big hits of 2014 from my blog. These are the posts everyone across the web found useful, fun or tasty. Let me know what are your favorites from this year.

Best of Pounds4Pennies in 2014

Custom DIY Sharpie Mugs

Sharpie Mugs – Huge Pinterest success with this post. It sat dormant until around Nov when everyone was looking for that perfect gift. This is my favorite too!

Big poster birthday card opened
Birthday Cards for Kids – This post was selected for a national Facebook campaign for Hallmark Cards and Walmart. My little guy still has this poster card hanging in his room.

Homemade Fruit Snacks Swedish Fish
Homemade Fruit Snacks – These homemade Swedish fish were so fun to make and so healthy too! This also sparked a conversation that my husband had never had Swedish fish before. He liked the homemade, but I did buy him the commercial version for comparison.
Valentine Crafts

Valentine’s Day Crafts –  Fun Crafts to make with your kids for Valentine’s day from around the web.

Homemade Ice cream without a machine
Homemade Ice Cream Without an Ice Cream Maker – This was a family favorite all summer long. We had so much fun creating different flavors of ice cream to enjoy. I almost can’t wait for summer to make some more!

Hot Dog Bar Shopping list
Create an Ultimate Hot Dog Bar – This gets pinned just about every day. Quick and easy shopping list for an easy party idea. We love to have hot dog bars for kids birthday parties. It is easy to set up and everyone can make their dog their favorite way.

Homemade Fettuccini
Homemade Whole Wheat Pasta – I am so amazed how different homemade pasta tastes and the texture. So light and fluffy and just melts in your mouth. If you have never tried to make homemade pasta, now is your chance. We are making some soon!

Winning Creamy White Chicken Chili 1
Award Winning Creamy White Chicken Chili – I think this is how I won my husband. This chili is so delicious and tasty. We all just love it. The white chicken chili is not spicy at all with this recipe. If the kids find it spicy just add more yogurt and cheese. Yum!

Fathers Day Candy Bar Wrappers Gift Idea

How to Make Candy Bar Wrappers – My kids loved making these for their dad this year. So fun and super easy idea for Father’s Day or any gift time of year. My husband love opening them too!

The Best BBQ ribs
3 2 1 Ribs Best BBQ Rib Recipe – If you are smoking ribs, then you need this recipe. The ribs turn out perfect every time. This time we used a secret ingredient of wine instead of beer and now my husband swears by it! Moist, tender, perfect ribs every time.

I can’t wait to share with you what I have in store for 2015! There will be more Homemade recipes, Homemade cleaning products, Homemade beauty products and greener living all for only pennies. This will be a resource for all things homemade or handmade and great gardening tips to grow, can and cook your own food. Stick around for more great things to come in 2015. I’ll be right here.
