Simple Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe

December 5, 2013 Amy 6 Comments

There is nothing better on a cold night like a hot cup of peppermint hot cocoa by the fire. I just love this simple hot chocolate mix to whip up when the weather turns cold. It really takes no time at all. I try to find creative uses for candy at our house, instead of just eating it. I love the idea to mix the peppermint with the cocoa to add a bit of spice to a warm cup of cocoa. In the mornings before everyone heads off to school, we will have cocoa with breakfast instead of milk. It warms you from the inside and sometimes we need it around here.

Ingredients for Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe:

1 1/2 cups Powered Cocoa, dutch process
3 Cups Dry Milk Powder
2 Cups Powdered Sugar
1 1/2 Cups Crushed Peppermint
Marshmallows for on top

Directions on How to Make Peppermint Hot Cocoa Mix:

1. Measure and combine all the ingredients except peppermint and marshmallows in a large mixing bowl.

2. Stir evenly to combine all the dry ingredients.

3. Place in the hot cocoa mix a cute jar. I was able to get this cute little jar at Ikea. Do not feel completely to the top with hot cocoa. Leave a little space for the peppermint and marshmallows on the top.

4. Fill the remaining top with the crushed peppermint and then top with marshmallows. This peppermint hot cocoa mix recipe will make enough to fill three to four small containers Attach this little printable or make your own: Add 1/3 cup mix to 6-8oz hot water or milk.

Peppermint Hot Cocoa - Easy gift idea - Pounds4Pennies

This peppermint hot cocoa recipe makes cute little teacher’s gift, gifts for neighbors, or bring to a holiday party for a hostess gift. This makes wonderful creamy cocoa especially if you use milk. I even love to have this ready to go in the pantry, so we can have hot chocolate whenever we want. Also try white hot chocolate for a great alternative. We also enjoy some simple coffee recipes in the morning, a cup of Chai Spiced tea in the afternoon and sip some spiced mulled wine in the evening.

What is your favorite drink on a cold day?
