This Thanksgiving is bittersweet for me this year. I am excited to be hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house. We normally travel every year for Thanksgiving to celebrate with family. This year family is coming to see us. My husband’s mom has arrived yesterday, and arrived Tuesday. However, this is the first year I will be celebrating Thanksgiving without my loving mom. I know I will miss her dearly today. I really enjoyed all of her baking she did for us every year. In order to honor her this Thanksgiving, I will be making her many of her wonderful dishes. I wanted to share with you some of the fabulous recipes we will be having this Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Dinner Menu
Turkey (of course)
Broccoli Rice Casserole (Mom’s Favorite)
Corn
Green Beans
Mashed Potatoes
Homemade Cranberry Sauce
Cheese Pie (No holiday is complete without this pie!)
Pumpkin Pie (Pumpkin Pie Spice)
Better than Pecan Pie Muffins (warning these are seriously addictive)
We will probably have some hot drinks too to celebrate Thanksgiving. We will wake up and make one of my wonderful and easy coffee recipes to start the day. The kids love to drink white hot chocolate and the adults will enjoy a little spiced mulled wine in the evenings. Nothing reminds me more of my mom then eating the dishes she made for special family occasions. I will miss her terribly this year, but I will not miss the wonderful food she lovingly taught me how to make. I will now share these same wonderful dishes with my family to continue with family tradition with my family for each Thanksgiving. Trust me the kids are already drooling over the cheese pie, but my rule is no pie until Thanksgiving day. I know I am a tough mom. Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your day.
