Clean eating on a budget can be easy with a few simple steps and a little preparation. We have learned how to stock a clean eating fridge and how to create a clean eating pantry. We know what foods to put in there, but how can we save money stocking them with real food? There are few simple steps to help your budget when buying food.
Buy Fruits and Vegetables in Season
This is pretty straight forward. To get a variety of fruits and vegetables, purchase what is in season at the time. Check the sales papers for your grocery stores. See what fruits and vegetables are on sale this week. Plan on purchasing those and create your meal plan around what is in season. This will help provide a larger variety and help keep your clean eating on a budget.
Meatless Meal Option
Protein can be an expensive part of any meal. Especially if you are trying to purchase organic or grass fed options for meat. Try finding a few meatless meal options your family will love. Easy taco soup can be made with extra can of beans for a budget friendly meatless meal. Also easy butternut squash soup is a good meatless meal option. Soups are easy to create a filling meal and not use expensive meat.
Buy Food on Sale
This is the way I shop most of the time to save money on my grocery bill. I have the luxury of shopping at three different stores each week. To save the most, take a look at the sales ads to see what is on sale for the week. Plan your purchases based on the sales. Especially for meat. Then build your meal plan around whats on sale. If it is a really good price, buy two of the same item. To create a stockpile of items at the lowest price. Shop from your pantry and not the store. Use coupons for grocery items. Most stores have digital coupons you can just download on your phone.
Create a Meal Plan
Create a meal plan to be frugal and still provide great food for your family. I know meal planning takes time. I will show you in the next few weeks how to create a meal plan that will work for your family and be successful. With meal planning you can cook once and serve twice with easy slow cooker recipes like 3 meals with 1 chicken. Meal planning will help keep clean eating on a budget easy.
Being thrifty and saving money while creating a clean eating diet can be tricky. Once you learn the steps, you will find it is easy to stay on budget. Clean eating on a budget can be rewarding too.
