Refreshing Spinach Pear Ginger Smoothie Recipe

January 7, 2016 Amy 4 Comments

It is a new year and my goal is to increase my fresh fruits and veggies for every day. An easy way to add fresh fruit and veggies every day, is making smoothies. I have a little confession; I am now addicted to smoothies. For years I have put off even trying one. It sounded so gross to me to have everything blended up and drink it. Now I know the trick to great tasting smoothies every time and want to share it with you.

Spinach Pear Ginger Smoothie

Refreshing spinach pear ginger smoothie recipe

The secret to the best smoothies is creating a smooth texture to drink just like a milk shake. I use my NutriBullet (affiliate link) to achieve the best smoothies ever. The NutriBullet (affiliate link) extracts all the ingredients and to make a smooth milk shake like drink. If you do not have a NutriBullet, (affiliate link) be sure to get an upside down blender to make smoothies. Adding just a little fruit, adds enough sweetness for the perfect flavor. This spinach pear ginger smoothie tastes amazing. The ginger adds a little zip at the end of every sip.

Ingredients for Spinach Pear Ginger Smoothie

spinach pear ginger smoothie recipe

1 1/2 cups milk of choice (can substitute coconut water or water)
2 cups fresh spinach
1 ripe chopped pear
1 mandarin orange
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1 scoop protein powder
1 tablespoon chia seeds
Honey to taste, optional

Directions how to make a Spinach Pear Ginger Smoothie

  1. First gather all and prepare all the ingredients needed for the smoothie. Wash and dry the spinach before use. Peel the mandarin orange. Chop the pear.
  2. Next add the ingredients to the blender of choice. Starting with the chia seeds first, then add the spinach and other ingredients up to the fill like on the blender. Top off with the liquid of your choice. I like to let the chia seeds soak for a minute or two on the bottom. This allows them to expand to create a smoothie without a banana or avocado.
  3. Sip and enjoy

This smoothie is on my new rotation of smoothies. Don’t be afraid to change it up a bit and add different fruits and veggies to find out what flavors you enjoy the best. I have found I do not like straight veggies smoothies. My husband loves them. I still get my veggies, but I just add a little fruit. Smoothie are like little treats I can enjoy instead of the high fat and calorie content of a milk shake.
