I cannot think of anything better on a hot summer day than an refreshing ice cold glass of lemonade. Lemonade is one drink all of my kids love no matter what time of year. If you have never made fresh squeezed lemonade, then you have to try to make this homemade ginger lemonade. It won’t last long, since the kids will gulp it down quick. The ginger gives is a little extra zing to this cool refreshing lemon drink. Something you can’t find in the store, but you can make yourself at home.
Homemade Ginger Lemonade
Ingredients for Homemade Ginger Lemonade:
1/4 teaspoon zested Fresh Ginger
1/2 Cup Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
1 1/4 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Honey or Sugar
Directions How to Make Homemade Ginger Lemonade
1. Use a juicer to juice all three lemons. After the lemons are juiced there should be have about a 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice. Go ahead and put a little muscle into it to work those arms.
2. Next zest about 1/4 teaspoon of fresh ginger. Ginger gives this lemonade a little extra zing.
3. Now add 1 1/4 cup water and 1/2 cup honey or sugar. Stir until the sugar or honey is completely dissolved. Serve over ice for the most refreshing ice cold ginger lemonade to quench your thirst on a hot summer day.
If you want to make more homemade ginger lemonade just remember this simple equation, 2 parts lemon juice, 3 parts water, and equal amount of sugar as lemon juice. Mix it all together for a refreshing glass of lemonade. I added ginger to this recipe, but feel free to test what are you favorite flavors to add to your lemonade. Then sit back and enjoy a tall fresh glass of ginger lemonade around the pool or any where you want this summer. My only wish is we had a lemon tree, since lemonade is my kids favorite drink of all time.

Hello Amy Greene,
Thanks for sharing your simple hot summer drink recipe. I’m from Asia. Lamonade is one of the most popular summer drinks in our country. But we don’t use ginger in it. I will definitely try this recipe at home. In our region, we have lots of sweat during summer time which cause great amount of electrolyte loss, so I would like to add some sodium chloride and rock salt in it. Please let me know if you have any suggestion.
Kind Regards,
Mumita.
