Command Center

June 12, 2012 Amy 2 Comments

I am so excited, since I have just created my command center for my house. I love how the design is so simple.  Now I am wondering why I never thought of this before. Oh how wonderful Pinterest has made my life! I am working on making the design a little more decorative, but for now it is serving the purpose I really wanted. I would have had a before picture, but little face fell in the pool yesterday without his vest and I saved him. He is OK. I got him before he even swallowed any water. I was right there. However, my phone was in my pocket with all my pics on it. Now the phone is sitting in a bag of rice. Please cross your fingers, eyes and toes that the rice will suck all that water out and I can get my pics back!

I purchased three white magnetic boards from Ikea for $15 each. I hung them with two horizontal on top and one vertical on the bottom. The top is a calendar for all the family events. The middle is for art work or important papers that needs to be displayed and the bottom is for little face all by himself.

I am so excited about the top piece I can barely contain myself. If you knew me, you would know I am the WORST about remembering dates for anything. I got my iPhone so I could put everything in there and I would have all my stuff with me at all times. Didn’t happen. I am a visual person, I need to see it. So I thought about having a large calendar where I have one place for all the family to put all of our activities and I can track where everyone’s supposed to be at a glance. My daughter thought of adding a little magnet to show what the day is! How clever she is!

Now I have a place for little face to play with his magnetic toys. They are now out of the kitchen and not cluttering up the fridge. Hopefully I won’t be stepping on them and kicking them all over the kitchen any more. Anyone else have this problem with those darn Leap Frog toys? He also has a place to display his artwork above.

I just need to pretty it up a bit with some fancy letters. They have all kinds of magnet things you can buy at the crafts stores. I want to make magnets for the numbers to easily switch around each month. I just haven’t had time to go, since I am shuttling little Miss to Vacation Bible School this week. She is having a great time and even made a new friend. She is excited she can be a volunteer next year.

Hey Lena I will work on getting some pics. My iPhone took a dive and I am getting my photos from iCloud. It is taking a while to sort and get everything working with both kids at home and one deciding to not take a nap most days. AUGH!
