Meal planning saves time and money. Planning out meals can seem a little overwhelming when first getting started. How can you actually plan what you are going to eat for the entire week? It is not as hard as you think. A few simple tips and tricks will have you meal planning like a pro in no time.
How to Meal Plan Successfully
I am sure your family has a few family favorites that you know they will love. Be sure to write those down on note cards with the list of ingredients on the back. Organize about four to five meals per day of the week. Simply pull a note card from each day of the week and you have a simple meal plan the entire family will love. Be sure to allow for a leftover night or going out to eat night once a week.
I try to incorporate meals the family loves in the weekly meal plans. It is easy when you have a theme for the day and try to stick to it. For example, we have taco Tuesdays at our house. That basically means, we are have a Mexican themed dinner on Tuesdays. I change it up a bit to have a little variety in our weekly menu. Other options are having a pasta night, soup night in the fall and winter, salad night in the spring and summer and even a slow cooker meal for busy nights.
Use Your Bullet Journal to Meal Plan Like a Pro
Did you know you can use your bullet journal to meal plan? Yes, it is very easy to start a meal plan section on your weekly planner page. Right now I meal plan using a small section for Meal Planning on the right bottom. I list all the meals we are going to have for the week. Find additional ways to create a bullet journal for yourself.
For an easy grocery list idea, take a page at the beginning of the month and fold it in half. Write Grocery List 1 and keep marking for up to four weeks. There are about 4 weeks in every month. This can hold an entire grocery list for a month on this one page of your bullet journal. Using a bullet journal to meal plan is quite easy.
However, if you don’t use a bullet journal I have made a cute Meal Planner printable you can download and start using right away.
I also like to fold it up and place it in the week I am on to keep my place and I can just pull it out whenever I need it. My bullet journal is my bible and I don’t think I could live without it.
How Tom Thumb Can Help You Use Your Bullet Journal to Meal Plan
Sometimes grocery shopping can be time consuming, especially when you have to bring the kids along. Tom Thumb has recently launched its Grocery Delivery program to Dallas-Fort Worth area, aimed at delighting customers and making it easy for customers to get groceries delivered to their door. This came in extremely handy this week. Recently, I was gone on a business trip the week before, then when I returned I was sick. There was no time to go to the grocery store to go shopping for all the things we were running out of in the house. I was able to order all of the necessary items to get us through the week, while I was laying on the couch trying to get better. How awesome is that?
How It Works
With this new service offered by Tom Thumb, shoppers will experience added convenience and time savings with one-hour delivery windows. They offer many different ways to shop. You can Shop By History, a feature that saves a list of all previously purchased items for easy repeat purchasing.
Or you can scan items and add them right to your list. As soon as you use an item, just scan it and add it to your list immediately and have it shipped directly to your house.
If you are meal planning similar meals each week this is a huge time saver. Right now Tom Thumb is offering free delivery on your first order. No need to worry about your grocery items. Delivery trucks are equipped with multiple temperature zones, so frozen items stay frozen and vegetables are crisp when delivered. Both Tom Thumb and Albertsons customers will be able to access this service via the Tom Thumb Delivery App, available on iOS™ and Android®, and online at TomThumb.com.
How to Save $10 At Checkout
For added convenience, the Tom Thumb Delivery App lets customers order groceries any place, any time, and scan barcodes to quickly add items to their cart. I love this feature. To celebrate the launch and provide customers with additional savings, shoppers placing Tom Thumb grocery delivery orders by Dec. 4 will receive $10 off their first order in addition to FREE delivery by entering the promo code TOM at online checkout.
