Texas has a unique heritage all its own. Mainly because the state is so large. You can move from Texarkana to El Paso 800 miles and still be in the same state and still be a Texan. I have moved all over Texas. I now call Dallas home. I think this is the perfect climate for me. It gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Not to mention there are a ton of things to do here. Today I am going to give a list of things I love about this state. Please share some of your favorites too.
Reasons I Love Texas
Fairs and festivals and parades. Nearly every weekend in summer there is a fair, festival or parade somewhere close by to enjoy.
Texas Beef BBQ. In Texas we know how to cook beef. After all this is cattle country. My dad always made the best brisket I ever tasted. Now my husband is starting to give my dad a run for his money. It is so good. But my husbands ribs are the best. Snow’s BBQ is right down the road from where I grew up.
Tex-Mex food. Queso has to be my all time favorite food. It is looks and tastes just like liquid gold. Enjoy with authentic Texas Paqui Chips and some Cookwell Queso. I have never tasted anything more fresh than this queso.
Heat – I love the heat, summer and all things hot. Bring on the summer heat in Texas.
Kolaches are the best breakfast food. These little gems were brought over by the Czhec people who settled Texas many years ago. I was raised in a small Czhec community and no body had authentic kolche’s better than Lukas in my home town.
Football – All things football. The love of Friday night high school football. Saturdays are for watching college football. Sunday are for the Dallas Cowboys.
Bluebonnets & Wildflowers are one unique piece of beauty you can find in Texas in the spring. It is acutally a law not to mow the interstates and hiways to allow the spring time flowers to bloom. Therefore we have tons of bluebonnets and wild flowers.
Texas State fair is always in October. If you want to find something fried to eat, it is there. There is always something new and it is delicious. Big Tex is always a welcome face to see at the fair.
No state income tax. Yes that is correct. Here in Texas we do not have a state income tax. Don’t worry we have plenty of other taxes to make up for that.
Water – Ozarka Water is made right here in Texas from three Texas springs. An ice cold drink you can enjoy any time of day. It sure helps to beat the Texas Heat in summer. And it is zero calories, so you can enjoy it whenever and it will never spoil your diet plans. It tastes just like Texas.
Here is a small list of the many things I love about this great state. I would love to here what your favorite things are about Texas, too.
