Sea Life Aquarium Sea Turtle Rescue Center Grapevine

July 14, 2013 Amy 5 Comments

We went to visit the new Sea Life Aquarium in Grapevine Texas this week. They just opened the Sea Turtle Rescue Center where three injured sea turtles are living. They are unable to be released back into the wild do to the severity of their injuries. Sea Life is a place where the sea turtles can live in a safe environment. These turtles would not be able to survive out in the wild by themselves.

We were able to meet Roxy a rescued sea turtle from the gulf in Texas. She is a little special to my heart, since she was found on my birthday in the gulf. She was brought to Sea Life Aquarium as a baby. She was found missing a couple of fins. Since she was so injured they she will remain in the care of the Sea Life Sea Turtle Rescue Center. Sea Life is an organization where they rescue sea animals and treat them for injuries and release them back into the wild when the animals are safely rehabilitated.

Sea Life Aquarium Shark Tank

One of the best attractions at the Sea Life Aquarium is the Giant Shark Tank. My kids loved the glass tunnel you can walk all the way through. They were able to walk over a sting ray that has buried itself in the sand. Then we walked upstairs and you can stand on top of the tank and look down at the sharks and fish swimming right beneath your feet. The smiles on the kids faces were priceless. I think I was smiling quite a bit too.

Then on our way out we were able to visit the starfish petting pond. Where there are starfish you can actually touch. The boys were very interested to see the starfish up close. We could see the little suction cups they use to hold on to the rocks. The vibrant colors of the starfish made them look fake.

We had a great time seeing all the sea creatures at Sea Life Aquarium. This would be a great place to get out of the heat during the summer. The dark, tranquil environment was educational as well as relaxing with all the water and fish to view. My kids had a great time and want to go back again soon.

Disclosure: Sea Live Aquarium provided free passes for me and my boys to visit the new Sea Turtle Rescue Center to learn more about sea turtles. No other compensation was given. All thoughts, experiences, pictures and opinions expressed in this article are my own.

So glad we got to participate in this. My kids are huge fans of Sea Life Aquarium so any reason to visit is a good reason.

We totally enjoyed our time at the Turtle exhibit. I wish they had little turtles that the kids could have held though…they would have liked that!
