  • Potatoes 1 small potato per person
  • Butter
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

  1. I recommend a really good cast iron skillet to make homemade hash browns. I absolutely love my cast iron skillet. Heat skillet over a med heat on the stove. Peel the potatoes with a sharp potato peeler.
  2. Using a cheese grater, grate the potatoes. This is the new one I bought just for this post and it is super sharp. Don't grate your fingers. This hurts. Trust me I know I found out the hard way.
  3. Make small potato patties. Try to make them a little thin, but they will still hold together. Shake a little salt and pepper over the top for taste. Even a little garlic powder is great.
  4. Place a pat of butter in the skillet. Then place a potato hashbrown on top of the butter. The large 12 inch skillet can fit about three hash browns easy. Cook until the bottom of the potato patty is browned. While the bottom is cooking, shake a little more salt and pepper on the top.
  5. Place another pat of butter in the skillet before you flip the hash brown in the skillet. Let cook on the other side until browned. See this is so easy to make. Serve with eggs and bacon or sausage for a complete breakfast.
