Homemade Holiday Spritz Cookies for Cookie Press

This traditional holiday favorite cookie is always fun to make. Holiday spritz cookies make the holiday special, but these delicious cookies can be make any time of year.

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda


  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Cream together butter and sugar. Beat in egg yolk, sour cream and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cinnamon, salt and baking soda. Stir flour mixture into butter mixture.
  4. Once the cookie press is full combined, place dough into a cookie press and press cookies onto a Silpat baking mat on a baking sheet.
  5. Bake in preheated oven 10 to 12 minutes, until golden. Cool 5 minutes on sheet before moving to wire rack to cool completely.
