How Color Code Your Planner Like a Pro

April 11, 2018 Amy 3 Comments

Color coding your planner can be a life saver.

Well, especially to my kids when they need to be somewhere.

There are multiple ways you can color code your planner to make it the best for you.

I use mine to color code each member of my families activities.

This makes it super easy to see when and where everyone needs to be.

First start off with some really great markers or pens like these or these. Who doesn’t love a great set of pens or markers? Then in the beginning of your journal or planner create a key so just in case you forget you have a key. Worst case someone needs to look in your planner and see what is going on. I know this never happens right? There is no correct way to color code your planner, it is what works best for you.

Take some time and list all the items you need to keep track of in your planner. Use the key to assign colors to the items you need to keep track of the most. For me it is kids and their schedules. I don’t want to loose track of all their activities and events. I even have my own color to track my appointments and meetings for the week.

It offers a quick glance to see what needs to get done for who without have to write the name every time. This saves time in the long run and is an easy reference when glancing in your planner.

Color Coding for a Student

For a student color coding is a painless way to keep track of classes and schedules. Simply assign a class a color. When creating a weekly schedule can use the color for the class for when you are actually in class when you allocate  time to study. This makes reviewing your weekly schedule a breeze and you can see quickly at a glance what you have going on that week.

As you can see keeping a detailed schedule doesn’t have to be a difficult task. I usually like to set up some time on Sunday evenings to set up my Bullet Journal for the week. This gives me a quick glance of what my week looks like and how to prepare for all the events for that week. I like to make planning simple and easy, so it is not too overwhelming. This way I can accomplish all my goals.
