Best Bullet Journal Supplies To Rock Your Journal

September 22, 2016 Amy 10 Comments

I love my Bullet Journal to keep my entire life organized. This has truly been a life saver to get me organized and stay that way. The final straw was when I missed a really important appointment. I have too many systems going on and I couldn’t keep them all straight. After writing and organizing my journal, I realized there are some key bullet journal supplies you need to stay organized.

Which Bullet Journal to Buy

The first and most important is the journal.  I love my Leuchtturm 1917 (affiliate link) for writing and keeping my thoughts organized. The Leuchtturm 1917 is an A5 size and has a faux leather cover to make it easy to carry. It comes in a rainbow of colors. It is so easy to pick your favorite color. The paper is smooth and thick with very little bleed through from pens. But the reason I love this journal most of all, is there are no lines. The pages are covered with little tiny dots. This makes it so easy to customize how ever you wish. This is why I highly recommend getting a Leuchtturm 1917.

Must Have Bullet Journal Supplies

I like to keep things straight. I love this 12 inch see through Ruler to create straight lines. This is a must have to add to your bullet journal supplies. Sometimes I don’t and I want to freehand a few drawings and things. But I like really straight lines to separate my days and important things. I freehand when it is a drawing and writing words.

Every bullet journal needs some color. Using markers to add small pops of color is easy with the Staedtler Triplus Fineliners. I just have the 10 pack of markers, but they have many different size packs. The largest I have seen is the 42 pack Staedtler Pack, if you just have to have every color!

I  have the pack of 10 Staedtler Ballpoint Pens. At first, I really loved these pens. So many colors and they matched my markers. Then after a while they aren’t working so well. They tend to skip or have a hard time getting started again. The Papermate Inkjoy pens are popular too. I really like these better. Using colorful pens will allow you to color code your journal.

Bullet Journal Supplies for Beginners

I have a secret confession, I love washi tape. There I admitted to it, so I feel much better now. Washi tape is perfect to cover those little things we call mistakes and are perfect for bullet journal beginners. I hate scratching anything out in my bullet journal. It just doesn’t look nice and pretty. Washi tape is perfect to hide those little imperfections. It comes in so many colors and sizes. It is perfect for adding a little more color and concealing those mishaps you will have as a beginner. See I wrote the wrong thing at the top, so I just put some washi tape over it to disguise it.

Washi tape can be used so many different ways in the bullet journal too. You can block out days or times by color coding with washi. Assign a kid a certain color of washi tape to keep track where everyone needs to be. You can write on washi too to organize and color code your day.

Lastly sometimes I just make mistakes and washi cannot cover it. I like to use small Bic Wite Out correction tape to hide those blemishes when I write. It is a little more bright than the Leuchtturm paper, but it doesn’t bother me as much as a scratch out would. I use it a lot too.

Update: I have recently opened an Etsy Store with Bullet Journal Stickers to make creating your bullet journal easier and faster. I love these stickers and use them all the time.

I love the Staedtler pens. I only have a 6pk with black, blue, grey, purple, red, and green. I’d love a bright colors pack so hopefully sometime in the future. For now I have some cheaper version of the bright colors that works well and I’m using in my own bullet journal. I love some of the ideas from your pictures here too, that’s what originally attracted me to your post. The books and movies page especially!
