How to Eat Healthy at Holiday Parties

Eating healthy during the holidays is always tough. There are so many treats and goodies to sample. Especially at parties and family gathering, but it is not impossible. Both Mrs. Claus and I have a few healthy tips and tricks to get you back on target for this holiday season.

Tips for Eating Healthy at Holiday Parties

How to eat healthy at holiday parties

First fill up on the good stuff. If there are fruits and vegetables offered at a party, make yourself a big plate of crudities to munch on first. This will help you fill full faster. You will be eating the good for you food first. Then you can have a small sample of the goodies. You will not be as hungry for the sweets or tend to over do it. Remember everything in moderation.

Second stay away from very sweet drinks or a lot of wine. These contain a lot of added sugar. If you have wine, stick to a glass or two and always have a designated driver when attending a holiday party. Try to enjoy and sip a drink slowly at a party. The point is to have a good time, especially at a company party.

Last try to no overfill your self with all the sweet and savory food and drinks being offered. Eat until you are full and then stop. Studies show instances of heart attacks increase during the holiday season. Stay on the safe side and enjoy a few sweets and treat, but do not overindulge.

According to Mrs. Claus, even Santa wants to eat healthy and promote heart health this year. Instead of cookies, try leaving out an apple, banana, or even some snack mix. I am sure the reindeer would love some snack mix too. I bet Santa would share some with the reindeer. Both Mr. and Mrs. Claus have added supplements to their routine to stay on track. You can track Santa’s progress and share tips with experts in nutrition and heart health at Claus Nutrition.

Do you have any great tips to eating healthy during the holidays you would love to share?
