I have not given up completely on coupons, but I am in the process of changing to organic produce and organic dairy products as much as I can and still stay within my limited family grocery budget. I have increased my budget by $10 a week. This is what I would spend a week on buying papers. I just wasn’t finding I was saving $10 in coupons I would cut out in the papers. It wasn’t justifying me purchasing $10 in papers to only use $8 or so in coupons each week. I didn’t want to buy a lot of junk and processed food. I usually printed more coupons and get better deals for organic products. I just can’t justify the cost right now in spending the extra money on papers. I still get a free set of Smart Source coupons in a Friday paper delivered to my house. So I will still use coupons, especially organic ones.
Changing to Organic Vegetables
Soon I will be bringing you how to get the wonderful products you love, and organically at a discount. If you have seen me post more slow cooker recipes, because this does take a little more time to prepare everything. I have had my slow cooker going for nearly 24 hours some days making two or three items a day. I am amazed how you can use this fabulous appliance to save time. I have to admit, my slow cooker had been sitting in the cabinet gathering a bit of dust. Now it is almost a permanent appliance in use on my counter top.
Changing to Organic Meat
Relying on eating out and processed food to feed your family is very easy. With a little preparation and planning you can eat fabulous meals and food with little or no effort. Changing to organic food is more expensive, but I am hoping I can show you how you can buy this food with limited coupons and still maintain a small grocery budget. Meat seems to be the biggest challenge right now. We may be buying more wild fish or fishing on our own in select locations to supplement our meat intake. I am looking for a farm here in North Texas to purchase organic chicken. Hopefully less than I can get it at the grocery stores.
Are you ready to begin my journey with me? Have you wanted to purchase more organic food, but not sure how you can justify the cost? This is my challenge for the next month of December. I will share my results with you in January how changing to organic food can be done for the average family. If not I will let you know that too!
