Thanks to Nestle® Pure Life® and Linquia for sponsoring this article planting seeds and why I stay hydrated.
Growing up we always had a garden. I would help by planting seeds every year with my parents. My mom would always can or preserve our food for us to eat all year round. When you grow up doing this, you just take it for granted it will always be there. Now that I am older we are trying our hand at growing a garden this year. Last year was a complete FAIL. We had no idea what we were doing.
I never understood how hard my mom worked to provide good food for us. Then I started trying to follow in her footsteps and making and growing more of the food we eat. My first attempts at canning were not a success. The jars didn’t seal or something went wrong. I never really could get it right. I successfully canned cherry jelly for my dad for Father’s Day. It was the first time it ever completely turned out right. I think my mom was there guiding me, since she was the expert on canning.
It feels good growing our own food in our garden. Even if the kids don’t like a lot of veggies, they really enjoy picking them. Secretly I am hoping they will eat what they pick. I am making it easy on them by making things I think they will like. So far all the kids have gotten to each pick one vegetable.
Planting Seeds of Change
My mom had health problems, but not from eating healthy food. She drank a lot of sodas before her kidneys failed this past October. She realized the importance of drinking only water. This was my Mom’s pure words of wisdom to me. I try to drink at least 40oz of just water a day. I feel so much better when I stay hydrated. I have more energy to run around after the kids to do fun things together. I always make sure the kids have water to drink when we go out.
