Are you rushing to a holiday party and have no idea what to bring for a hostess gift? This happens to me all the time. My heart starts rushing and I am in panic mode. I like to have a few little gift items lying around to prevent this near heart failure at the last minute when I am getting ready. Then I can just grab a small gift and go and not have to fuss over having to go out and a gift and risk being late. Sometimes just a small gesture is all that is needed to say thanks. I love these little reindeer ornaments filled with mulling spices to gift as a gift during the holiday season.
Mulling Spices Reindeer Ornament
Supplies for Reindeer Ornament Mulling Spices
4 Tablespoons Homemade Mulling Spices
2 Cups Brown Sugar
Funnel (optional)
Brown or Black pipe cleaners
Large plastic ornaments
Sharpie Marker
Red pom poms
Googly eyes
Glue or hot glue
How To Make a Reindeer Ornament Gift Idea
First wash and clean all the ornaments before filling. I like to do this the day before, since they need to be completely dry before placing anything in them. Otherwise, the mulling spices will be very difficult to get out.
Next start gathering all your supplies. Here is a quick and easy mulling spice recipe I like to use or you can find mulling spices at the store to purchase. Add the spices to 2 cups of brown sugar and mix up well.
Once you have all your supplies, then you can start to assemble these cute little reindeer ornaments.
First place the funnel into the ornament. I found it so much easier using a funnel then just trying to fit all mulling spices in the small hole. I also found ornaments with very larger opening in the top, so it was easy to fill.
Once the ornament is filled full of spices, place the cap back on the ornament. When the ornament is full, this will not actually hold the ornament. But it is a good place for the tag.
Next make the reindeer antlers using the brown pipe cleaner. Take a pipe cleaner and cut several pieces about 2 inches in length. These will form the antlers. Next take one full length pipe cleaner and one 2 inch piece. Fold the 2 inch piece in half and wrap around the tip of the full length pipe cleaner to create an antler. Then wrap the antlers around the top of the ornament.
Next glue on the reindeer nose. I chose a red pom pom for a Rudolph reindeer, but you can have black too.
After the nose is glued on draw a reindeer face or glue on some googly eyes and draw in the mouth with a sharpie.

This is a fun project and the kids can help out too. Attach it to a bottle of wine or a bottle of apple juice for a great hostess gift this holiday season. See how to make warm mulled wine to sip during cold nights. Giving a small little gift like this is sure to bring a smile to any hostess that receives this fun gift. Once the hostess uses the mulling spices, they can have an additional ornament for their tree. I gave these out last year as a quick gift idea and I plan to make more this year.
