When I asked my stepson what he wanted to eat for his birthday party, he said “Pizza!”
I am not the type that wants to do just boring pizza. So I started thinking. Then I remembered Double Daves, a pizza place here in Texas. They serve their own version of pizza rolls.
These are the best thing I have ever had. After a little bit of research I found a recipe as a guide for homemade pizza rolls, since this recipe was basic and used more processed ingredients than I wanted to use, I made own version of homemade pizza rolls from scratch. Overall these are pretty easy to make, but a little time consuming.

Oh, what a novel idea. And why are all of these ideas come just after I used up all of my pizza dough. Poo-ey! I will keep this one for next time though. The idea of freezing these intrigues me big time. You're freezing them after baking them, correct?
Amy says
Yes, I will bake them. Then I will heat them up in the microwave with a moist paper towel over the top to keep the crust from drying out. Everyone at the party like them.
Tanner says
I have that on my list for sure. I love freeze'able snacks.

I saw these made with Pillsbury Crescent Rolls, but these sound great as well. Thanks! I am following you now, thanks for following me 🙂

Pillsbury Crescent Rolls aren’t in the ballpark. Need a good chewy dough crust that will seal these up, and hold the cheese inside. Makes a world of difference.
Amy says
Thanks for your comment Matthew. Yes this dough makes them the best.
Amy says
I put extra garlic and seasoning in the dough. I like the actual dough too, compared to crescent rolls. The crescent rolls are not as good as these, since these taste more like actual pizza.

Yum my kids would love this one 🙂

Making my own dough is out of my comfort zone right now, but I just stocked up on pizza dough, so I am definitely putting these on my list to make in the next few weeks! The kiddos will love them! Thanks

Clever. I've been making mini rolls with frozen rolls. I like that these are a bit bigger.

I LOVE this idea…would be great pizza "sandwiches" to put in a lunch sack!
Amy says
I was thinking the same thing. I know my daughter would love these for lunch. I can't wait to make them again.
Amy says
You can use store bought Pizza Dough. I happen to have a bread machine that takes up space in my cabinets. I like to pull it out, dust it off and use it every once in while.

Can I freeze the rolls prepped/uncooked?
Amy says
Yes. But make sure you fully defrost them before you cook them.
